I was born in Reykjavík Iceland 1947. When I was 16 years old I was admitted to the Icelandic Collage of Arts and Craft.
I graduated 1968 as a graphic designer. Next year I worked in an advertising agency and continued working in the art school in graphics, drawing and painting. Then I was one year in Rotterdam, Holland, in Willem de Kooning Academy doing painting, drawing and graphics.
After graduating from the Academy I started my work in Iceland as a graphic designer. For 20 years I worked as graphic designer in different agencies and on my own. I did a lot of advertisements, illustrating and book layout. In the year 1971 I did my first commercial animation and got so interested in animation that 1979 I finished 15 min "Hammer of Thor" the first icelandic animated film.
I have created two cartoon series, Bísi and Krimmi 1976 and Pú and Pa 2005. I was teaching graphic design in ICAC for 10 years. I had my first exhibition 1979 and have since had more that 20 exhibitions in Iceland and abroad and taked part in exhibitions and film festivals all over the world.
I have illustrated many children books and written. The Hammer of Thor published in Japan 1982. Bísi and Krimmi cartoons publihed in Estonia 1999. Leif the lucky and how he found America published in Iceland 2004. Polli the polar bear published in Estonia 2011
I have 3 grown up children living in Iceland and Norway. 1993 I moved abroad to work full time in animation in Finland, Sweden, Hungary, Lithuania and Estonia where I lived. I live now in Haapsalu, a small town on the west coast of Estonia with my wife, Liivia Leshkin, a fashion designer and our 13 year old son, Tindur Hugo, working with my drawings and cartoons.
